New in SEO: Create a Post on your Google My Business Listing
Google is getting more interactive than ever. Now, as a business owner, you can post news, events, products, specials and more all from your Google My Business Listing. This new feature offers a real time communication channel to reach your customers, give them a call-to-action, and hopefully gain their business.
Here at Classy Brain, we love keeping you updated on all of the latest trends and updates in the SEO world, so we have decided to tell you all about the new GMB post feature and how to do it best.
What Can You Post?
As you are browsing through your GMB dashboard, you can click “Posts” to create and share a message directly on your listing. You can post things like:
- Specials: New Patient Deals, or 20% of All Purchases
- New Products
- Events: Grand Opening Celebration or Professional Demonstration
- Announcements: Change in Business Hours, or New Management
- Appointment Times
There are many variations that you can create for your post. Treat this like an advertisement space that could potentially redirect a customer towards your business.
How to Write the Most Effective Post
With a 100-300 word count, you have a lot of freedom when it comes to what you post. However, there are a few tips and tricks that we can share with you to write the most effective GMB post.
- Choose what kind of post you want to create
Do you want to bring in new customers? Create a post that talks about New Patient Specials. Open extra hours on Saturdays? Create an announcement that says “We’re open until 8:00pm on Saturdays! Come in for late night frozen yogurt.” Decide what you want your customers to do, then write down some copy that fulfills that.
- Write an engaging title for your event
When you create a post, there is an option to change your post to be an event. In this case, you can title your event. However, you only have 4-5 words (58 characters), so try your best to make them count.
- Include a high quality photo
You have an option to include one photo to compliment your post, so make sure that your photo is high resolution, well lit, focused, and colorful. You should have a JPG or a PNG file that has a minimum of 720px by 720px.
- End with a Call-to-Action
End your post with a clear cut instruction for your customers to follow. Write something direct like “Book Now” or “Learn More” or “Visit us Today.”
- Do not include things that are already on your GMB listing
You have limited space when you create these posts, so don’t include things like your business name, your normal hours of operation, or your website URL.
These posts are great for businesses like Chiropractors, Dentists, Electricians, Restaurants, Insurance Agencies, and so much more. Whatever business you run, this new Google addition could be huge for your online presence on search results pages. Take this to your advantage. Create a new post, view your insights (to check the performance of your post), update it occasionally, and see what happens.
